My practice involves an active, collaborative, focused approach to change. If you are here, you are ready for this! I focus on exploring patterns driven by biological, emotional, historical, and current experiences.
Have you always felt like you were running a different operating system than everyone else — working twice as hard just to hit "basic level"? Maybe you were diagnosed as a kid and told you'd "outgrow it." Maybe you're 35 and just now wondering if the thing you've been calling "being bad at life" actually has a name.
I am late diagnosed with ADHD myself, and I evaluate and treat it in adults for a living — which means I'm not working from a textbook description of what this looks like, I'm working from what it actually looks like: burnout, overstimulation, the mood swings nobody mentions, the relationships that get strained because your brain won't cooperate on cue. Adult ADHD rarely shows up alone — anxiety, masking, and years of overcompensating usually come along for the ride, and untangling which part is which is exactly what a real evaluation is for.
You have not been able to shake anxiety responses. They interfere with your life and functioning. Sometimes derails your work, parenting, relationship interactions, follow through. Anxiety is such a powerful experience and state of emotion. It is intrusive and eats away at your credibility. Or you may be feeling that it is getting worse; and being triggered more often.
You always imagined that being pregnant and bringing your baby home would be just like the movies. But motherhood, pregnancy, and your sense of self feel like they have been contaminated. This affected your enjoyment, worries about bonding, sense of self, your ability to connect. This is common. We can understand and organize the scary thoughts, insomnia, rage, anxiety, feelings of disconnect and more.
You went through an experience that effected you and now haunts you. And now you do not understand why you cannot just let it go. You feel like this changed a belief you have about yourself or safety in general. This is evidence that your brain is making mistakes that it didn't used to such as not knowing the difference between remembering the event and going through it again.
You feel stuck in cycles and patterns that are related to hormones, the brain, and/or experiences specific to being a woman. You are feeling frustrated and protective of yourself. You see yourself differently than how you act and you worry you cannot rely on yourself to follow through the changes that you want to make. We can talk about the interplay of all of you, every single part.
Despite all that you have accomplished, you have the nagging feeling that the shoe is about to drop. Reassurance, accolades, degrees, promotions, and jobs cannot seem to confirm what you hope to be true. You may even be worried that you don't have a right to say that you have imposter syndrome! Once we look at the function of this we can take a look at how to interrupt the mantra that leaves the pit in your stomach.
Including assessment and treatment of all the things you would like to put in your rearview! You are welcome to include anyone you think would be useful.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as the main or add-on treatment for all disorders that I specialize in. Disorders that this is appropriate for are: trauma, anxiety, recurrent dysregulation, upcoming challenges, ADHD
I am now offering 2-4 hour intensives. These services can include EMDR. This is very useful if we include several types of therapies to gain more traction.
I use evidence-based tools to help explore whether ADHD might be part of what you’re experiencing. I’m experienced in identifying common comorbidities and other factors that can sometimes mask ADHD, and I’ll provide thoughtful, practical recommendations for next steps so you know exactly where to go from here.
